The company was established in 1985 as a proprietary concern with Mr. Ashok Patankar as a sole proprietor. The Unit was into manufacturing various electronic assemblies for some large manufacturers. In a short span of two years the activities expanded to manufacturing of various complete assemblies for reputed Organizations like Nelco Ltd., Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Orson Electronics Ltd.(a joint venture of Sony Electronics of Japan) etc. Hence the concern was transformed in 1989 into Monalisa Electronic Design Centre Pvt. Ltd. well known as Monalisa EDC Pvt. Ltd., or simply as MONALISA
